This wonderful little island benefits from the temperate effects of the Gulf Stream that flows around its shores in the form of a mild climate and, amazingly, palm trees!

The countryside of the island is well worth exploring. There are several well-posted walks and nature trails that vary from 1 to 3 hours duration and from 'easy' to 'hard'.

Or, why not hire a bike, join a walking group or explore the island on your own.

No visit to the island is complete without a visit to the inspiring ancestral home of the Stuarts of Bute. Stunning interiors, astounding works of art and superb architectural details. The house is set within 300 acres of wonderful gardens, walks, treee-lined avenues, pincic areas and even a children's play areas.
